Our Story

Humble Beginnings

From humble beginnings, Shed House Australia received national acclaim and attention with Rhys Uhlich’s own home, an iconic Shed House he constructed on Phillip Island, Victoria.

Seeing what he had achieved and the broad interest it had garnered, Rhys then started Shed House Australia. His vision is to offer housing and non-residential spaces that give more creative and financial freedom to clients in their building journey.

New Possibilities

Over the past 12 months, a new management team has been formed and collectively we have been on a creative design journey with specialist collaborators to elevate Rhys' original vision.

Through listening to our clients, and our own experience, we've created the Shed House LIVING range of architecturally pre-designed homes using our proprietary In-Line Framing System.

Our LIVING range provides a mix of homes across a range sizes and configurations that are centered on design, building efficiency and certainty for our clients.

At Shed House Australia, we see true beauty in the classic shed form. A timeless, inclusive, and authentic space that effortlessly connects and inspires a new way of Original Living.

Rhys Uhlich

Founder & Director

Rhys holds the vision for Shed House Australia, with a drive to change the way we build in Australia for years to come. His original Shed House on Phillip Island received national acclaim and built the backbone of enquiry and demand we have today.

Rhys' focus at Shed House Australia is to engage with the market and individual clients whilst also collaborating with the team on design.

Dave Penfold

Director

Former Acquisitions and Delivery Director at Mirvac and Milieu, and Co-Founder of residential property developer Penfold, Dave brings extensive experience and market knowledge to Shed House Australia.

Dave's broad focus is on setting overall strategy, and applies his background in construction, development, finance & design to the Shed House Australia business model.

Katie Penfold

Director

With more than a decade of experience at one of Australia’s most renowned property developers, Mirvac, and as Co-Founder of residential property group Penfold - Katie brings an exceptional level of experience to Shed House Australia.

Katie's role is focused on business development, implementation & execution, along with design & product development.

Matt Menichelli

Construction Director

Matt is an award winning Master Builder with his construction business, Elevate Building Group, two time winning builder on ‘The Block'. He is highly regarded in the building industry and driven by quality and innovation.

Matt's focus at Shed House Australia is management of our in-house construction business 'Built by Shed', while also working closely with the team to optimise design efficiencies for Kit Supply.

Dave McHenry

Head of Sales & Marketing

Dave has carved his way as a business consultant with a successful track record of building brands and sales & marketing strategies in Asia, Europe, North America & Australia for over 15+ years leveraging an innate understanding of the customer.

Dave's focus at Shed House Australia is broad, working closely on brand development, and on the sales & marketing strategy where he has developed a framework to optimise the customer journey.

Nick Acquroff

Head of Brand

Over the past decade, Nick has worked with Australia's leading design & construction brands. He began as a creative director in advertising, before moving onto the same role with his fourth generation Family Businesses - S&A Stairs and Ensemble.

Nick's focus at Shed House Australia is to drive all facets of the creative process, from product & brand development, social media content and website whilst also leveraging his extensive supply network.
